Corroded-folk songstress Aerynn announces release of hope-filled debut studio single, “Fall Away,” a song inspired by women escaping human trafficking/exploitation in Asia, to coincide with aperformance for Leek Arts Festival (UK) on 18th May, introducing bassist Chris Cliff and fiddle player Heidi Jamila to her act.
Aerynn was inspired to write Fall Away during a fundraising campaign by Starfish Project, a non-profit restoring hope to women escaping human trafficking and exploitation in Asia. Through holistic care programs and social enterprise, Starfish women create beautiful jewelry and are provided with health care, shelter, counseling, education and vocational training. A portion of proceeds from Fall Away(available on iTunes/Amazon from 15-May) will benefit the women of Starfish Project. "We feel really honoured that Aerynn was inspired by Starfish Project and wrote a song. It sounds amazing, she has a great voice!," says Jenny McGee, CEO of Starfish Project.
As Aerynn’s only original recording featuring piano by the late “Riverboat Steve” Farrish, the release of Fall Away is in part a tribute to Aerynn’s dear friend and former bandmate. The track also features the haunting musical saw played by Natalia “Saw Lady” Peruz of New York busking fame, and local bass creative Christopher Cliff. “The journey of releasing Fall Away has crossed oceans and the great mystery of life and death at this point, so ‘release’ is truly an appropriate term for this single and I’m so thankful to everyone who has been a part of it,” says Aerynn.
Aerynn will be joined by Chris Cliff and Heidi Jamila to perform as a trio Friday the 18th May 8:30pm (doors 8pm) at the Foxlowe Arts Centre in Leek as a key act in the month-long esteemed Leek Arts Festival. Tickets are £7 and can be purchased at the Foxlowe Arts Centre box office, or at the Leek Arts Festival website, https://leekartsfestival.co.uk/tickets/. Attendance will include free download ofFall Away. “It is an honour to be asked to play at the historic Foxlowe for 2018 Leek Arts to celebrate the release of Fall Away, and I can’t wait to share Chris and Heidi with my beloved audience. They are each true artists in their own right,” says Aerynn in anticipation of the concert.
