Laury Verdoux at Reyt Good Magazine describes See In The Dark as "an album that invites listeners to sit with their emotions, offering comfort and catharsis in equal measure. Aerynn’s ethereal voice is the centerpiece, supported by arrangements that balance intimacy with grandeur."
The 11th song on the album, "Time Machine" represents well to Verdoux's analysis. With luscious strings preformed by The Halle's violist Chris Emerson and experimental cellist Lili Holland-Fricke, the listener is transported to a hopeful dystopia, perhaps Aerynn's own version of "Space Oddity", a story taking place in a different time and space, and yet relatable in our own Earthly experience.
Lyrics
Will you remember me when all the stars are gone;
And faith is just a story,
And faith is just a story we tell our young?
Oh, fire that launched me far beyond,
Light anew and guide me home.
Gravity, come rescue me, my time machine.
Gravity, you’re my only hope to breathe again.
Pull me through our memories, my time machine.
Gravity, you’ve come for me, my time machine.
Will you remember me when all the leaves have fallen;
And hope is just a story,
Hope is just a story of holding on?
Oh, fire that launched me far beyond,
Light anew and guide me home.
Gravity, come rescue me, my time machine.
Gravity, you’re my only hope to breathe again.
Pull me through our memories, my time machine.
Gravity, you’ve come for me, my time machine.
Will you remember when all tears have turned to stone,
That love is just a story,
That love is just a story of letting go?
